Dr APJ Abdul Kalam
The Missile Man Of India
Born on 15th October 1931 in Rameshwaram , Tamil Nadu , India . Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was born under Jainulabiddin Maraykar and Ashiamma Jainulabiddin . His father was a boat owner which use to take hindu pilgrims back and forth between Rameshwaram . His mother was a housewife . He was the youngest among four brothers and one sister in the family .
kalam completed his education in mandapam panchayat union middle school and shifted to schwartz higher secondry school for his next education . Further Kalam went to Saint Joseph's college situated in Tiruchirappalli from where he affiliated to university of Madras , where he graduated in physics in 1954 and did aerospace engineering . He spent his next four years of his life as a Scientist and Science Administrator at Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) where he did India's Civillian Space Programme and Military Missile Development Efforts . He is called " The Missile Man of India " for his effort in ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology . He played an important role in India's Pokran 2 Nuclear Test in 1998 .
He was elected as 11th President of India in 2002 with the support of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress .
Kalam was recieved with many prestigious awards including Bharat Ratna Award which is India's highest civilian award honoured .
On 27th July 2015 at the age of 83 , Kalam collapsed while giving the lecture at Indian Institute Of Management Shillong . Thousands of Civilians attended his Funeral Ceremony at Rameshwaram , Tamil Nadu where he was burried with full state honours .
